Shelell Freeman

Shelell Freeman (author of “Self Reflection” and “Mother Knows Best!”) is a 19 year old Performance Poet and Actress who resides in New Jersey by way of Pittsburgh and Florida. At the age of 12 she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she was first introduced to live theatre and performance poetry. After writing for just 6 months Shelell participated in a local slam and took first place. Since then she has organized writing workshops for incarcerated youth and traveled to cities across the US; performing and participating in slams. Shelell is an Urban Word 2008 finalist and ranked 20th in the world in the Women of the World Poetry Slam. She was also slam master of the 2009 Jacksonville Slam Team which is currently ranked 4th in the world at the Brave New Voices International Competition.
