Kavindu Ade

Kavi Marque (author of “Autobiography”) is a 19 year old poet who resides in Philadelphia, PA. Kavi is originally from Brooklyn, NY. She began writing poetry at age 13. She was inspired to share her poetry at age 16 after attending a workshop taught by spoken word artist Marc Bamuthi Joseph. However, unaware of any Philadelphia poetry events she stuck to high school and city wide youth talent shows. Through the talent shows she met poet, “Just Greg” Corbin and began attending his writing class in early 2008. This year, at her second poetry slam, Kavi made the 2009 Philadelphia Youth Poetry team. The team competed at Brave New Voices, International Youth Poetry Slam Competition in Chicago and made it to semi-finals. Kavi currently is a college freshman, focused on growing as a person and poet.
